Philippines MBBS Syllabus is designed following international standards that guide students to crack competitive exams like the USMLE, in the US and the FMGE, in India post completion of the education in the Philippines.

The course is divided into BS and MD.

BS will be for 1 year and 8 months. Students learn all the basics of Psychology, Histology, Human Anatomy, Human Physiology along with general Biology, Physics and Chemistry. These subjects help to get a strong foundation for medical studies. After completion of BS, students will have 4 years of MD.

The first year of MD has basic branches like Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Histology, Neuro-Anatomy along with equal practical sessions. Students will be regularly given assignments and research work to keep them updated with the latest happenings in the field of medicine around the globe.

During the second year, students learn pathology, microbiology, parasitology, obstetrics, pharmacology, preventive medicine and community health, clinical pathology along with regular practice sessions. Students do practical classes where they get a clear understanding of the human body in laboratories. They carry out different experiments and report to their respective professors.

Professors keep students updated about the latest technology and practices and assign projects to students to make them understand the subject better.

In the third year of MD, students attend lectures for pediatrics, ophthalmology, radiology, gynecology, otorhinolaryngology, legal medicine/medical jurisprudence, clinic pathologic conference/special topics in pathology. Special guest lectures are arranged for students during this period. Students go for field visits and explore more about their profession. They are assigned to conduct camps in the rural areas under the guidance of their professors to meet people and diagnose them. This way students get involved in social work and study as well.

The final year students have to do a clinical internship, to practice in the affiliated hospitals associated with the UV Gullas College of Medicine. Students in the UV Gullas College of Medicine are given clerkships with 5 major hospitals in Cebu city. The hospitals are four private hospitals and one government hospital. Interning for a hospital immensely boosts experiential learning, as students are actively engaged with a healthcare system and work with experts, as opposed to the system of learning in a classroom only.
